Failure to abide by the towing regulations, including maximum loads, may result in a fine, or in the case of an accident, refusal of the insurance claim, and the possibility of further legal action.

Returns need prior authorisation by Topline Trailers and all trailers are deemed second hand once taken from our premises. It is the owner’s responsibility and cost to return the trailer to Topline Trailers factory for returns.

Aggregate Trailer Mass (ATM)

The combined weight of the trailer and its full load when it is not coupled to a tow vehicle.

Gross Trailer Mass (GTM)

The weight of the fully loaded trailer imposed on the trailer’s axle when it is coupled to the tow vehicle.

Note: GTM will always be less than ATM as some of the trailer weight is transferred to the tow vehicle when the trailer is coupled to it.

You will require the following documents for trailer registration in Queensland:

  • F3518 – Vehicle Registration Application
  • F3970– Self Assessment of Single Axle Trailers form.
  • Trailers with an Aggregate Trailer Mass (ATM) of 750 kgs or less do not have to be inspected.

All trailers purchased from Topline Trailers must be registered in accordance with Queensland law.
